New Year’s Resolutions

The year 2014 is going to be upon us before we know it like a Justin Verlander 100+ mph fastball to a novice right handed batter in spring training.  In between the status updates like, “OMG its already Christmas!” and “Its already Valentine’s Day, and I haven’t even started my New Year’s Resolution. SMH”, there will be ample chances to better ourselves and get focused on our goals.  Why not today?

The following article states that 40% of Americans make New Year’s Resolutions, and only 8% actually attain their weight loss goals.  75% drop their goal within one week, and 71% make it 14 days.  64% can get to February without tanking, and only 46% make it last six months.

How about you grab the bull by the horns and attack that goal TODAY!

Jay-Z wrote on his Life and Times blog that him and Bey were going to go vegan for 22 days.  He stated that it takes 21 days to form a habit, as well as other meaningful reasons.  If you haven’t checked your smartphone’s lock screen yet, it is December 12, 2013.  That leaves you 19 days to put it towards that 21 finish line.  If you would just start with the simplest task and make an conscious effort to repeat it daily, I am positive that it will be cake by the time January 2, 2014 rolls around.

22 Days Challenge:

You may be wondering what my goals for self improvement will be for the new year.  First and foremost, I have set the bar to read at least one book a month.  Regardless of the topic, audio or in print.  I wasn’t much of a reader growing up, but I know that it is beneficial to invest in myself.

At the end of the day, setting any goal, and attaining that goal is all about ACTION.
